mudsledges

Vehicles used by tidal nomads to transport supplies across the tidebed, with runners on the bottom to help move effectively across mud and silt. They range in size and complexity from small open pallets dragged behind a single person to large, enclosed cabins.

Clans in the near tidelands are known for using large, unpowered sledges pulled in organized groups through the use of a harness. This compounds the towing ability of each group member, and can be remarkably effective if the group is experienced in working together. This practice led to the development of towing songs, chant-like work songs used to help keep a towing team in sync. Towing songs often have a call-and-response format, with the lead two towers singing the majority of the lines between them. In comparison, clans in the far tidelands are known for using smaller, personal mudsledges towed by an individual or outfitted with sails.
