You’ll notice I’ve rearranged things a bit around here—with more improvements to come. Most significant is the addition of a projects section, which indicates my aspirations to be doing more… projects. Anyway.
It’s been a little while since I shared some pictures. Let’s start out with this excellent little stone color wheel that Adriana and I collaborated on in San Diego. After Andy Goldsworthy, perhaps? open_in_new

I’m an anxious flier, which means that I spent the majority of our six-hour redeye home in a state of drowsy delirium. After jerking back to panicked alertness for the nth time, I saw that we had caught up with the sunrise. The contrast of the dark, crisp borders of the window with the soft gradient of the clouds was quite nice. After James Turrell, perhaps? open_in_new

On a walk around the neighborhood, I noticed this little side door to an apartment building. Look at the little pattern of eyebrow windows on the corrugated metal roof, and the way that the entrance overhang on the right is slightly curved to match; it’s like a flock of shy little creatures is peeking out at you.

Finally, the below pictures were both taken in the midst of the most perfect summer weather we’ve had all year. The first, especially, was just after a torrential downpour, where the sun had exploded out from behind the clouds just as quickly as the sky had opened moments before. I’ve been wrestling with how to strip all the automatic photo “enhancements” out of my phone camera, and even though these pictures are technically lower quality than my camera is capable of producing, I think there’s a softness to them that captures the feeling of the moment better than the default HDR slopification that seems impossible to opt out of these days. I’m pleased that the pigeon seems to be glowing with an ethereal aura, just like real life.
