mechanism

Pinkish-purple plasma swirls against the darkness of space.

An extradimensional entity which traverses the universe, leaving unstable spacetime eddies in its wake. These tunnels briefly connect disparate points of the universe through shifting, unstable passageways which dissipate on the scale of centuries. Though it can’t be directly observed, its presence can be deduced as it filter feeds on hydrogen plasma and converts it into dark matter, such as when its brief passage through the Milky Way galaxy caused the premature death of our sun.

Despite its detrimental effects, the mechanism is an impartial force of nature; no more malicious than an avalanche or a typhoon. Just as it is beyond our comprehension, it is not possible for it to conceptualize the impact of its “behavior” on our existence.
